I’m Daring To Care This FebruDAREy for Cerebral Palsy League

Feb 16, 2015 | fitness, Motivation

As an ambassador for the Cerebral Palsy League’s (CPL) second annual FebruDAREy, I’m taking on a brand new challenge. Come February 18, I’m going to race for 14 minutes against two of the fittest people in Australia – Olympic 10000 athlete Ben St Lawrence and  my friend, Andrew ‘Reidy’ Reid from Bondi Rescue. All funds raised will go to the Cerebral Palsy League.

I’m so proud to be named as the official FebruDAREy 2015 ambassador and happy that I can raise awareness and vital funds for Australians with disabilities. Every 14 hours, a child is born with cerebral palsy. It’s the most common physical disability in childhood, affecting movement and posture.

Many of us take our ability to move freely for granted, and I want to help these children live healthy active lives. Without CPL, thousands of children and adults would not be able to walk or speak, let alone live at home, go to school, or participate in the workforce.

CPL – the non-profit organisation – organises this fun and interactive fundraiser turns the whole month of February into a dare-fest, as people across the nation dare someone they know or tackle a dare themselves, and then raise money for CPL via donations. This year, FebruDAREy will be twice as fun thanks to the call to challengers to “double dare” by daring themselves and a friend, work colleague or family member.

I’m feeling pretty nervous – who tries to race an Olympian?! But I’m doing it in two days time and so proud of the good message coming out of it.

Come on Australia! Join us and dare to show you care this FebruDAREy by daring each other to do something fun and challenging together.

Thank you for supporting me and the Cerebral Palsy League.
